"I sing with CCNY because in the crazy rush of work and life and changing times and caring for others, it is one of the few times I make a stand to take care of "me". I love the feeling. I love the sound around me and through me. I do it because while it takes my individual skill and work, I am part of a team - creating a force stronger and larger than I could possibly be alone. I have sung in chorus since I was 10 years old - it doesn't get boring; I can always learn something new and get better than I was. It is comfortable slippers and, simultaneously, 5-inch spike heels.
I found CCNY at a residential sing weekend run by David Randolph in 1993. For 4 years, I joined with the chorus only for the Singing Christmas Tree at the Seaport - I sang with another Monday night group and felt a responsibility to stay with it. Finally, I couldn't resist any longer - I wanted to challenge myself and sing with the stronger voices and stronger musicians of CCNY. The stunning jolt of being on Carnegie's stage was also a huge plus. I am blessed; I am welcomed; I am home."
